Super Vellies
Super Vellies have been in fashion for a few years now – as South Africans have their own association with Velskoen’s (pronounced “fell-skoon”) my man had to be convinced to buy a pair. Now they are first preference after any of his Adidas Originals and soon need to be replaced.
Herbert Schier has made this modern-day desert boot into an “It Shoe” and everyone owning one does this in true appreciation. They are hand made in Swakopmund, Namibia by a small group of eight Damara gentlemen. Have a look at Shier Shoes for more styles and colours – they even have a kiddies collection!
Fashion Shoot
Just as the summer season is coming to an end, the results from the production shoots get published.. Its funny to see familiar Cape Towns locations in advertising stories – which happens quite often, as the Photo & Film Production Industry is big here. Well known for the models, but also for the beautiful locations; almost every corner is used: streets, gardens, houses and beaches. This one is the beach of The Grand Restaurant.
Stella Jean
This Italian born designer with Caribbean heritage fuses the two opposing cultures together in a very special way. The result is feminine, beautiful, playful and elegant – simply said. Her latest collection has an African feel to it and speaks its own language.. It leaves admirers speechless! It’s soooo up my alley… I’m in love!

African Collections
Its very exciting to see international designers combining African print and their own collections.. I fell in love with the latest Marni collection for H&M or the Burberry Prorsum Resort collection..
The latest discovery just blew my mind.. its from the Italian fashion designer Stella Jean (see next post)!
Happy Easter Bunnies!
Today I’m introducing the 21 Concept Store: two fashion labels FAITH21 and 21DGRS, created by an exceptional couple, Kim & Rik, who live between Bali, Cape Town and Northern Germany. “Surfing keeps us grounded, friends and family show us what’s really important, graphic and fashion design keep us busy, photography inspired and Yoga flexible. We invest our money in airline tickets as we always have to find out what’s around the corner. Big city life is awesome but stresses us out after a while, rice fields and tradewinds make us happy. We enjoy the freedom to change directions, regularly spin out and most of the time fall on our feet.”
Sounds like an amazing concept, coz it works!
