Design Indaba 2012 – II
Finally some more interesting stuff I came across at this years Expo.. Loved the creativity from a number of upcoming and already established designers. The Buyers Preview Day made a big difference in getting to know designers – its cool to see who stands behind designs I blogged or read about and to have the time to connect.
But I must confess that some exhibitors who’s stands looked almost the same as last year didn’t really have to showcase again.. The fashion part was not really mine either, as I don’t think its necessary to give some of the local fashion designers the space of a fashion show, when all they are creating are bad rip-offs from international fashion houses..

First Impressions, more to come…
In Love With Quilts
Quilts are delicate work made with passion and love. I found this original map of Africa quilt on this blog with the post title I left my heart in Africa – read the story behind it.. very impressive! Taking it further.. how cool is this quilt design worked into a tent? What an amazing idea! Being a big city girl and not imagining myself camping… I must admit that within the last 5 years I quite like it! Even more if we could get stylish tents like this one and get away from the usual boring look! TheCoolHunter featured the signature tents from the company FieldCandy. Check it out!

Moxy Crochet
The passion for crochet is what makes the work of Laura Summs so special. She is creating the most beautiful crochet jewellery with Moonbasket, but Laura also is the owner of Moxy Crochet.
Seven crocheters craft hundreds of hexagonal pieces which finally get pieced together into a blanket – each is one of a kind! Working from their homes in Cape Town’s Khayelietsha township makes it possible for the crocheters to spend time with their families and keeps transport costs to a minimum.
Lovely!!! For more products and information go to: www.moxycrochet.co.za
Dalmatians in Cape Town
Sharon Boonzaier is an artist and it seems that creativity for her doesn’t have any boarders. She has worked as a painter and illustrator and is creating decor items like chandeliers out of paper and leather, as well as baby mobiles, but she also has a range of leather jewellery, like this Dalmatian necklace.. It caught my eye, because I’m “Dalmatian” .. well… the region where I come from is called Dalmatia.. which is the place the cute doggies are also coming from!
Wonki Ware
I instantly fell in love with this ceramics range. Designed by Di Marshall – Wonky Ware distributes worldwide.. The signature style is recognizable everywhere.. It wasn’t a surprise for me when I spotted it one evening at an Asian restaurant in Berlin.. Nobody knew what I was talking about, but when looking underneath the bowl, there it was..the Wonky Ware logo. I’ve been collecting pieces over the years and am very pleased to see them grow all over the world!
