Missibaba + Mevrou
M+M is a collaboration between Chloe Townsend (Missibaba) and Anna Verloren van Themaat (Mevrou & Wolmer). The two designers have created a range of handbags, scarves, cushions and vessels. Each product is available in bold and graphic patterns and only white/black colours of Merino hand knitted and felted yarn, Namibian leather and dark chocolate cotton is used for the finishing. What an amazing combination!
Super Vellies
Super Vellies have been in fashion for a few years now – as South Africans have their own association with Velskoen’s (pronounced “fell-skoon”) my man had to be convinced to buy a pair. Now they are first preference after any of his Adidas Originals and soon need to be replaced.
Herbert Schier has made this modern-day desert boot into an “It Shoe” and everyone owning one does this in true appreciation. They are hand made in Swakopmund, Namibia by a small group of eight Damara gentlemen. Have a look at Shier Shoes for more styles and colours – they even have a kiddies collection!
Stella Jean
This Italian born designer with Caribbean heritage fuses the two opposing cultures together in a very special way. The result is feminine, beautiful, playful and elegant – simply said. Her latest collection has an African feel to it and speaks its own language.. It leaves admirers speechless! It’s soooo up my alley… I’m in love!

Design Indaba 2012 – II
Finally some more interesting stuff I came across at this years Expo.. Loved the creativity from a number of upcoming and already established designers. The Buyers Preview Day made a big difference in getting to know designers – its cool to see who stands behind designs I blogged or read about and to have the time to connect.
But I must confess that some exhibitors who’s stands looked almost the same as last year didn’t really have to showcase again.. The fashion part was not really mine either, as I don’t think its necessary to give some of the local fashion designers the space of a fashion show, when all they are creating are bad rip-offs from international fashion houses..
