Split in the 80’s
When ever I come back to Split I remember my childhood by looking at old photographs of family and friends. It brings me back to the old times, but the 70’s and 80’s were my favourites, as my mum and aunt were young and part of the cool crowd of Split. Now a city of more then 400.000 citizens – a lot has changed since, the war in Yugoslavia left its marks, but some things still remain the same.
Today I’m introducing the photographer Feđa Klarić, the Croatian “Sartorialist”, who has been photographing Split and Dalmatia with their locals for the past 40 years and has exhibited his work in many galleries. This photographic documentary “Beauties of Split in the 80’s” (including my aunt and some family friends) is showing the style and fashion attitude that the locals in Split have always been renowned for.
Pigs can’t fly – The Book
“To make a small fortune from farming, start with a big one” – This is a novel about a life’s journey of a man who gave up a corporate business life in Cape Town to spend more time with his family and take on a farm life in KwaZulu-Natal. Its written by my father-in-law and documents their family’s life of 8 years living on a pig and tomato farm with all its beauty and misfortune. It will hopefully explain my husbands dislike of tomatoes and all the other family secrets..
